Top Three Black Sand Beaches in Maui, Hawaii


I am always on the lookout for unique and breathtaking destinations. And one of my favorite places to visit for both adventure and beauty is Maui, Hawaii! Maui is KNOWN for it's powdery sand beaches and warm water... however, if you're looking for something a little different, then you have to check out the these top three best black sand beaches on the island. These unique beaches are a must-see for any traveler looking to experience the best of Maui.

Wai'anapanapa State Park


Located on the eastern shore of Maui, Wai'anapanapa State Park is home to one of the most famous black sand beaches on the island. The beach is surrounded by lush vegetation and towering cliffs, making it a picture-perfect spot for any traveler. To get there, take the Hana Highway to mile marker 32, and you'll see the entrance to the park on the ocean side of the road.


Honokalani Beach


Honokalani Beach is another breathtaking black sand beach located in Wai'anapanapa State Park. The beach features a dramatic shoreline, volcanic rocks, and crystal-clear waters. To get there, follow the same directions as above and head towards the coast once you reach the park.


Oneuli Beach


Oneuli Beach, also known as Black Sand Beach, is located in the town of Kihei and is easily accessible by car. The beach is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike, thanks to its unique black sand and turquoise waters. To get there, take the Piilani Highway to mile marker 6 and look for the parking lot on your left-hand side.
